My First Post!
Welcome to my new blog at www.mrwarner.com.
Let me introduce myself… I’m Mark Warner, a primary teacher here in the UK. I’ve been teaching for over 8 years, and using ICT in a wide variety of ways in both my professional and my personal life.
I’ve been running websites (mainly Teaching Ideas but a few others too) since 1998, and these receive lots of visitors from all around the world. The success of these sites continues to amaze me, and I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who has helped me with the growth and upkeep of them.
So why have I set up a blog? Well, I’ve been using a blog for a while as a place to post news linked to the Teaching Ideas site. I’ve also tried blogging with classes (but I’d definitely like to explore this more depth). However, I’ve never had a personal blog… a place to reflect on things… a place to share my own thoughts and findings. I’m often inspired by the blogs of other educators, so I thought that it was time that I set up my own. It may be interesting… it may not.
Time will tell I suppose.

Thanks Isabelle,
Even though I’ve been publishing work online for 10 years, starting a new blog is still pretty nerve-wracking!

Thinking about starting a Blog. Not sure what angle to go with-who my audience should be. What made you start? Who is your target audience? WHy Blog? Will your students, fellow teachers, parents, and friends all be going here?
thanks.

What made me start? I’ve been reading blogs of other teachers for a quite a while now, and having set up blogs for school and linked to my websites, I really wanted to have a go on a personal level, exploring and sharing my own teaching experiences.
My target audience? Other teachers… with similar interests to me I suppose. Those who try to use technology in new and effective ways in the classroom. This will definitely not be aimed at my pupils / parents as I already have blogs for that audience linked to my school site.
Hope this helps a bit. Thanks for your comment, and good luck with your own blog!
