Welcome to the Web
Way back in 1999, I created a website called Welcome to the Web. I made it during my teaching practice as part of a unit to teach children about the Internet. Over time, I added new features to the site and ten years later, it’s being used by thousands of children around the world every day. I get lots of positive feedback from those who use the site, with suggestions of ways of making it even better.

Last summer, I decided to start updating the site. It looked out of date and it had very basic features. Use of the Internet has changed considerably since the site was first created, so it didn’t even mention things like blogs / wikis / podcasts / e-safety.
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to work on the site much since last summer. However, I’ve spent a considerable amount of time updating it during this Easter break, and it is now almost complete.
There are still quite a few rough edges to the site, and a number of new features that I still have to add. However, I would love to receive some feedback from teachers who might consider using the new site in their classrooms.
I will then take this feedback into account before getting the site completed and ready for classrooms to use! I’m not sure when the site will be 100% finished, but I’m determined to get it fully online as soon as possible. In the meantime, I would appreciate any comments from visitors.

If you are interested in testing the site for me, please email me. I don’t want to publish the site’s address yet, as it isn’t completed and I don’t want teachers stumbling across it and thinking that it is ready to use in school.
If you’re able to help, thank you!
